When it comes to music, the second half of the year is where things happen.
The first three months of the year are usually a drag, with big dogs falling back after their fourth quarter releases and engagements. But as the temperature rises, the narratives of the year start to emerge and the big releases begin to show up.
The heavyweights are now bracing for the release of their albums. We can’t even wait!
In this piece, NET brings you a list of albums to look forward to.
Oritsefemi
Self styled Musical Taliban, Oritsefemi has inscribed his name on the wall of hit makers with the release of his back to back monster hit songs which include ‘Double Wahala‘, ‘Sexy Lady’, ‘Body & Soul‘, ‘Igbeyawo‘. After teasing the fans for long, anticipation for his album reached feverish points, and the ‘Mercy of the Lord’ singer did not disappoint. He gave us a dope 22-track album which features heavyweights like D’banj, Davido , Timaya, Patoranking , Ice Prince , Harrysong , Phyno , Skales and Ghanaian dancehall music sensation , Shatta Wale.

Star boy Wizkid will be releasing his third studio album this year. The album which is going to be the first under his StarBoy label is expected to be loaded with international and local collaborations as well as top notch productions from some of the biggest producers around. The talented musician has released few songs off the highly anticipated album, and fans are now begging him to not postpone its release one more time!
Pasuma

The wait is over for the fans of Fuji music star, Wasiu Alabi popularly called Pasuma as his much anticipated pop album will be released this month. The Orobokibo originator has been working on this album for over a year and with a couple of collaborations with stars like Tiwa Savage, Phyno, Olamide etc., Pasuma has shown his readiness to break into the mainstream pop music scene.

After the unexpected success of the hit single, ‘Tesojue‘, Reminisce returned with his third studio release, Baba Hafusa, a 16-track record featuring production from Chopstix , Sarz , Jospo, Sossick Young John and D’Tunes . The new album features stars like Olamide, Phyno among others.

Kennis Music artiste, Joel is ready to drop his debut album titled Timeless- a compilation of popular songs including ‘Oya now’ featuring Oritse Femi,‘Hold on’ featuring 2face Idibia and ‘You are in love’.
This album will feature Phyno, Iyanya, Yemi Alade, J. Martins, B Howard, and many more. And with production from super producers like OJB Jezreel and Masterkraft, the album is expected to be a good start point for the Idibia look-alike.
Joe El recently released a new song titled ‘Chukwudi’ for his fans to enjoy while they await the full album slated to drop this month.

He shot some amazing videos off his debut album and did endless collaborations. Despite the achievements of the last few years, Davido has refused to slow down. he’s now working to release his second album any moment from now. Expect a big concert of international proportions, and an album that’ll transform the party scene.

One of the hip hop disciples flying the banner of rap music in Nigeria is Ill Bliss. Oga Boss as he is fondly called will release his third studio album this month. Titled Powerful, the album will feature guest appearances from members of his record label, Chidinma, Suspect, Mz Kiss as well as a collaboration with Wizkid.

The 18-track album features top acts like Olamide, Vector, Seyi Shay, Kate Henshaw, Victoria Kimani, Skales, Ice Prince and Praiz. Pundits say the album should open fresh opportunities for the gifted musician who introduced us to Big Brovas, D’banj, Don Jazzy and many others.

Five star music singer/songwriter, Harrysong otherwise known as Mr. Songz says his sophomore album will be released this month.
The album will feature Olamide, Kcee, Praiz and Orezi.
With his reputation as one of the best songwriters in Nigeria, everyone is expecting a dope album from Mr Songz; the album that should finally catapult him into the A-list.

Phyno’s debut album, No Guts No Glory was one of the most anticipated albums last year and the rapper did not disappoint.
Once again, the Airtel ambassador is hoping to repeat the magic with a second album pundits say will seek to broaden his fan base and clement his hold on eastern Nigeria.

The pop star says his new album is 90% ready, in a radio interview few days ago.
The new album is titled Chosen One, with a first single Cinderella featuring 2Face Idibia, already finding favour on radio.
Expect appearances from Reminisce, Timaya and Seyi Shay. Maybe he’ll also get former maintain mate Mr. Tolu to drop a verse or two.
